About Nepal
Nepal, a small
landlocked country situated amidst the Himalayan ranges, is
considered to be a "Dreamland of Tourists". It is world
famous for its scenic beauty. It is potentially one of the most
attractive tourist destinations on earth. Nepal is a tourist
paradise with a tremendous variety of interesting sights and
activities. For each visitor, Nepal offers not only the rich
experience of its ancient culture, architecture and splendid
mountainous range but also the opportunities through its mountains,
jungles, rivers in the areas of trekking, jungle safaris and
rafting. Nepal is described as the world's most precious staircase
to the roof of the world. Nine of the ten tallest mountains in the
world are located in Nepal. From the snow-capped Himalayan Mountains
of Everest, Kanchanjunga, Annapurna and Dhaulagiri to the busy
valleys and the forested plains, the country has an unparalleled
treasure of attractions.
Two of Nepal's regions have
particular potential for tourism. The central region is of foremost
importance as it contains the Kathmandu valley, a place rich in
natural and cultural heritage. Next in importance is the western
region which includes the city of Pokhara which has fabulous lakes.
Jomsom and Annapurna, have mountains of Scenic beauty and good
trekking facilities.
Nepal has a diverse flora and
fauna. The forests of Nepal are teeming with life from exotic birds
and flowers to tigers and rhinoceros.
Nepal is represented to the world
by the highest peak, Mt. Everest and Lumbini, the birth place of
Lord Buddha, is not only the home of snow clad mountains but the
home to various ethnic groups with diverse culture, religions and
languages. Because of unparalleled diversity in culture, religion,
topography, language, flora and fauna, Nepal attracts tourists for
culture, adventure and nature.
